The story of Søndergade 31
The first buildings at Søndergade 31 likely appeared in the early 1800s, although the exact year is difficult to determine.
Over time, the property was rebuilt, and a photograph from 1882 shows the form that still characterizes the building today.
The front house once bustled with customers and goods when Magasin Du Nord had a branch here until 1933.
Later, from the 1930s and for many years onward, KFUM filled the building with activity, where youth and community shaped everyday life.
In 1989, part of the property was purchased by Horsens Ungdomsboliger, and 24 student units were established. Where shops and associations once defined the place, young people now live – and the building continues to be full of life, just in a new way.
